2014 Scholarships

SW-Gowani-20142014 – Alnoor Gowani

The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the 2014 recipient of our $750 award for a student going on to College is Alnoor Gowani.

Alnoor is going to be attending George Brown College for Business and Marketing. While at PCSS, Alnoor was involved with the Interact Travelogue and Conference.

In the community Alnoor volunteered with his faith-based group at the Toronto International Centre. He also volunteered with the Port Credit Annual Waterfront Festival.

In 2009, Alnoor was recognized as an Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year for his role in saving a man’s life who was drowning in the Gull River.

The Alumni Association wishes Alnoor all the best in his future endeavours.


SW-Hasan-2014

2014 – Farah Hasan

The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the 2014 recipient of our $750 award for a student going on to University is Farah Hasan.

Farah was President of the Sci-Tech Council, and a gold medalist in the Peel and Ontario Technological Skills Competition – Prepared Speech Category and an executive organizer of the Junior Solar Car Competition.

On the community and volunteer side of her activities, Farah was a Duke of Edinburgh Award recipient, a volunteer with the Trillium Health Centre and an organizer and volunteer with the Meadowvale Community Dance Centre.

Farah’s passion is to use her knowledge to benefit the disadvantaged in society. Her educational goals are to attend medical school and pursue a career in pediatrics, genetics or neurology. Farah will be at Mcmaster University in the fall of 2014.

TG-Kuo-2014

2014 – Vishal Kuo

Terry Garbutt Memorial Award

The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the 2014 recipient of our $750 award for the Terry Garbutt Memorial Award is Vishal Kuo.

Over his career at PCSS, Vishal was the grad class valedictorian, the student council president, and a member of the Varsity Football Team, the Rugby Team and the Ski Team. In the Community Vishal was a City of Mississauga Camp Counsellor, Guitar Teacher, and a Math Tutor.

The Terry Garbutt Memorial Award is focused on leading through innovation. Vishal’s innovation for the school focused on extending the PCSS Twitter and Facebook accounts allowing over 500+ PCSS students to stay connected through social media.

The Alumni Association wishes Vishal all the best in his future endeavours.
